The Centre «Kuzbass-Donbass» and Kemerovo State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation held one of the most large-scale events for international students of higher education institutions in Kuzbass - the annual Pushkin Meetings festival. It is timed to coincide with the celebration of the International Day of the Russian Language, and this year also with the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
The festival is held annually to unite foreign students, to form young people's interest in Russian language and literature, attitude to the cultural heritage of the country and the region where they study.
This year more than 30 foreign students from India, Egypt, Cote d'Ivoire, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan studying at KemGU, KuzGTU named after T. F. Gorbachev, KemGMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, SibGIU, KuzSAU and UTI TPU took part in the Pushkin Meetings.
Students recited their favourite poems by Russian poets during the contest «Charmed by Pushkin's Verse». In addition, young people were invited to artistically present scenes from Pushkin's poem ‘Ruslan and Lyudmila’ and take part in an absentee drawing contest.
It should be noted that students of Kemerovo State Institute of Culture and Kuzbass State Technical University named after T.F. Gorbachev from the People's Republic of China took part in the competition in absentee mode.
Participation of foreign students in such events in Kuzbass is an important part of their life experience in another country, helps them to adapt faster to the new environment and fully enjoy all the advantages of the region.
